Things you will need:
- A washcloth
- Anti-bacterial soap
- Hot water
- Cotton balls or pads
- A thin needle or pin
- Antibiotic cream
- Paper towels
- Isopropyl rubbing alcohol
First, disinfect the needle or pin with isopropyl rubbing alcohol by placing some of the alcohol in a bottle cap and dip a needle in it. Let the needle sit in the alcohol while you start perform the next steps.
2. Apply a warm, wet compress
Wet a washcloth with hot water and then directly apply a wet compress on your pimples. Do this for at least 20 minutes. Re-wetting the washcloth and perform the steps for some time. This will help your skin to become soft and will bring the pus out of the surface.
3. Wash your hands and dry with a paper towel
After applying the hot compress, move fast and wash your hands using anti-bacterial soap and dry then with a paper towel. Do not use hand towel because it will cause bacteria.
4. Clean the facial skin blemish
Soak a cotton ball with alcohol; clean the area around the pimple. You are actually disinfecting the skin a two-inch diameter around the pimple.
5. Lance the pimple
Remove the disinfect needle from the bottle cap and apply on the pimple as to lance it. Since the skin is already soft and warm so the needle can easily insert into the skin with little pain. You should enter only ¼ of an inch of the needle tip in order to lance the pocket of infection formed beneath the surface of the skin.
6. Drain the pimple
It is quite a simple but gentle process. As soon as you draw the needle out, pus will begin to emerge outside of the skin. You just need to put little pressure to drain the pus from the skin blemish. Place the finger on either side of the pimple and move towards the blemish while applying pressure in a slight manner. Repeat the process from various angles.
7. Gently squeeze the pimple
You cannot squeeze the pimple with force as it will drive the pus and infection deeper into the skin. It will make the condition worse and acne scar will appear. But if you put gentle force and nothing would emerge then you will need to apply a compress for 20 minutes longer. If the pus still does not emerge then it means the pimple is not yet ready to be drained.
8. Wipe away any drainage from the skin blemish
While draining the pimple, you want to wipe away the push or fluid with a cotton ball soaked in isopropyl rubbing alcohol.
9. Apply antibiotic cream
After finishing the step of draining the pimple, at last, you would have to apply the antibiotic cream to promote the healing. Do not use antibiotic ointment; this will cause the clogged pores, blackheads and more pimples.
Tips:
- Repeat the process if the pimple redevelops a white head.
- Always remove your makeup at night and use a non-comedogenic moisturizers.
- Exfoliate the skin while taking shower daily or every time when you wash your face. It will remove the dead skin cells that are often responsible for the clog pores, causing pimples to form.
