Apple Caramel Crisp Pizza {Happy Fall}
Today I have a delicious Fall apple recipe to share with you. One of my family's favorite things is making our own pizza. It doesn't matter if they're sweet or savory, we love them all!
Fall officially began last week, but the cool weather didn't start rolling in until yesterday.
Fall is my favorite time of year, the changing of the leaves, the nip in the air and all things apple and pumpkin. Oh, how I love apple season! This shortcut Apple Caramel Crisp Pizza is made using Rhodes frozen dinner rolls, homemade apple pie filling, a crispy buttery topping and finished off with drizzled caramel.

This is one of my favorite dessert pizzas and the perfect fall treat. My kids started helping in the kitchen as soon as they could hold a mixer, so they love to cook as much as I do. Now that they're older (teenagers) things have shifted a bit from helping me cook to cooking on their own which makes me happy.
This Apple Caramel Crisp Pizza is the perfect recipe to get your kids started in the kitchen. My youngest son is 13 so he helped me make this recipe. He rolled out the dough, added it to the pizza pan, spread the apple filling on top and the remaining topping ingredients. All I really had to do was prepare the filling and help with the oven.

3 - 4 apples, peeled and chopped
1/2 - Cup granulated or raw sugar
1/4 - Cup brown sugar
1 - Tablespoon butter
2 - teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 - tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 - cup water
1 - teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping:
1 - Cup all purpose flour
1 - Cup granulated or raw sugar
1/2 - Cup (1 stick) butter
Caramel sauce for garnish
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray counter with non stick spray or add a little flour. Combine the thawed rolls into a ball and using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 13-14 inch circle.
Place on a sprayed 12-14 inch pizza pan. Poke dough several times with a fork to prevent bubbles from forming. Pre bake pizza for 10 minutes.
While the pizza dough pre-bakes start on the apple filling. Peel and dice the apples small and place in a large skillet.
In a small bowl combine the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and corn starch. Add 1 tablespoon of butter. Sprinkle the dry ingredients over the apple and add the water and vanilla extract.
Cover and bring mixture to a slow boil, turn the heat down to low and simmer (stirring occasionally) until the apples are tender and the mixture starts to thicken. Remove from heat and set aside to slightly cool.
Remove the pizza dough from the oven and set aside. Spread the apple pie filling evenly over the pizza crust.
To make the buttery crumb topping, in a small bowl combine the flour, sugar and butter. Use a fork or pastry blender and cut in the flour until it resembles crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple pie filling. Bake 20 - 25 minutes or until the crust and topping are golden brown.
Remove from oven, cool slightly and drizzle melted caramel over the pizza before slicing and serving.
